There’s a common problem that happens in higher ed institutions, in which donations are used as a measure of the health of the alum group as a whole, but the institution doesn’t know what to do to increase loyalty and donations, so they pull back on offerings to alums because they (falsely) believe that alums are showing their disinterest in the organization with their lack of giving.
This is a fundamental misuderstanding of the progress from student to graduate to alum, and what alums want from the institution they graduated from.
What do they want? It varies from institution to institution, and usually they want an experience that mirrors their experience as students in key ways. And they want a current, living relationship, not just nostalgia about the past.
Our consultation will focus on determining how your alums expect and are ready to be connected to your institution, based on how they were connected as students, and what level of connection and committment they are willing to offer. Using behavioral design concepts including the client progress model and Jobs To Be Done theory, we’ll create an alum experience portfolio that leads to increased engagement, publicity, and donations.
